SCORM

The Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a set of interrelated technical specifications built upon the work of the AICC, IMS and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to create one unified "content model". These specifications enable the reuse of Web-based learning content across multiple environments and products.

SCORM was created as a result of the ADL initiative started by the U.S. Department of Defense and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Its goals are to accelerate standardization within the online- learning industry in order to promote more cost effective training for the government/military and the national workforce.

SCORM is designed to release learning content objects from local implementations. It is intended to provide the technical means for content objects to be easily shared across multiple learning delivery environments and platforms.

Lectora has been tested and is conformant with the latest SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 specifications.

AICC

The Aviation Industry CBT (Computer-Based Training) Committee (AICC) is an international association of technology-based training professionals. The AICC has developed guidelines for the aviation industry in the development, delivery, and evaluation of computer-based training and related training technologies since 1988.

The AICC has since expanded its standards beyond the aviation industry and has played a major role in promoting interoperability standards and guidelines for eLearning software vendors.

Lectora is an AICC certified Authoring System which has been tested by AICC independent test labs to comply with AICC Guidelines and Recommendations.

LRN

The Learning Resource iNterchange, established by Microsoft, is a commercial implementation of industry specifications and emerging standards that address the description, packaging, and runtime execution of learning resources in order to enable widespread interchange and interoperability.

LRN is Microsoft's implementation of the Instructional Management Systems Global Learning Consortium (IMS) Content Packaging 1.1 and Metadata 1.2 Specifications, an industry standard for the interchange of online learning content. LRN also supports the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) 1.2 reference model developed by the ADL.
